The GS interface is a bit idiosyncratic in places but I think the plus button should always do something if it is visible. Is the button functioning at all?

if something's not behaving, i would quit and restart and try it again. GS gets a little cranky after a little while and needs to be restarted. and save often!

when you say you've redownloaded the game, what are you talking about? have you tried creating a game from scratch? does that work?

    what buttons specifically aren't working?

To begin, creating an actor is pretty much the only thing TO do...

In the first window that comes up, click on New Project, then choose either a Blank Project or work with one of the provided templates.

From the Home screen, double-click on the first scene.
    Then start creating your actors.

You shouldn't have to redownload GameSlaad.

I created an actor but from there i cant do anything
now i dont know if its because i im not doing it right or the application just isn't working

From there, you can drag the Actor out onto the Scene.

In the Actors panel, you can double-click on an actor to edit its properties or add new behaviors and rules to the actor.

Have you read the getting started threads on the Wiki?:

yeah i read them but it still didnt work
part of the problem is i dont have any scenes and i dont know why

and in the actors panel, all i can do is change the name

just for kicks, delete the application and redownload it. It's solved a few issues in the past. then when you open it up, click on the new project option on the left hand side and try opening the Cannon game. Does that work?

If it does, go up to file -> new and choose a blank project. You should see 1 scene called Initial Scene. Click the + sign on the bottom to add a new scene. doubleclick on that and hit the plus sign to create an actor. drag that into the game window.

    did all that work?

opening the canon game worked, any other templates work also
i clicked new and nothing happened after that, no new scenes created. nothing.

and i have redownloaded the game. thrice now

when you say you clicked new and no new scenes created, what are you doing?

To create a new scene you need to open any project, blank or otherwise, and click on the little + sign. You need to hit this on the screen that shows all the scenes in the project.

that's your problem, from the gamesalad tech specs:

    GameSalad Creator System Requirements
Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard or later
    Mac with an Intel processor
    1GB of RAM

so if we don't have a intel processor we cant use gamemaker?
  • firemaplegamesfiremaplegames Member Posts: 3,211
yes, you need a mac with an intel processor to use GameSalad
