GameSalad always seems to have major troubles with performance, and it slows down to a crawl in terms of performance after about 5 to 10 minutes of using it. I had learned to live with that by just re-starting GS every 10 minutes or so, whenever it started to slow down and become unresponsive.

But now, just in the past few days, and maybe it's been kind of doing this since the upgrade to the newest version of GS.... the software ALWAYS runs very slow as soon as I start it up. Anytime I click on the project to open it, anytime I click on a scene, an actor, or click the arrows to go back from one actor/scene to another in the editor, it takes several minutes before it responds. It just sits there with the little circle thing showing that it is waiting.... and often, it simply gets hung and I have to use the Force Quit Applications option to shut GS down because it is not responding at all.

My mac has 1 GB of RAM and 202 GB of available space on the hard drive. The gamesalad project that I am working on is 12.9 MB in size.

I have tried several things to make GS work at an acceptable level of performance, but nothing seems to help? I have deleted and re-installed the download multiple times in the past few days, and that has not helped either.

I don't know what to do, but GS is running at the speed of molasses, at best, on my machine right now, and it is completely unacceptable.

I cannot finish my current project if GS does not run faster than this. What do I need to do for GS to run properly on my mac?????? please help :-)

yeah, it has 1GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM and a 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor. that's how it came from the factory, and I've never had any trouble with performance, except for GameSalad. But, GS was working relatively ok up until recently, so I'm not sure what is going on, except that the project size has increased up to the current size of 12.9 MB. I don't think that is all that large of a project necessarily. Someone on here said they had done a GS project that was around 150 MB in size.

There is an extra slot for RAM on this computer if I want to go buy an extra Gig of RAM and install it. I've done that sort of thing a million times on a pc, but never done it for a mac. I'm assuming since the computer tells me that there is an empty slot available that I can add more memory. This computer is an all-in-one mac desktop, and I'm not even sure how to open it up to get access to the memory slots.

Any other suggestions or advice on this?

seems simple enough to do. hopefully upgrading from 1GB of RAM to 4GB of RAM will be enough for GameSalad to give a decent level of performance and not lockup all the time?

Dont be mad if buying more ram doesnt fix it though. I have plenty of ram on my computer and gamesalad still acts up. The best advice i could give is dont use the back and forward buttons, click the scene button and select your scenes from the dropdown. When i started doing this gs went from crashing every 20 min to every couple hours

Get ram for it, it'll make a huge difference in how long it will run

I have 4 GB of ram. ( Mac Mini Server, http://www.apple.com/macmini/server/specs.html ) I'm pretty certain that Gamesalad has a memory leak. Performance gets exponentially worse over time, to the point where opening up a busy Actor can take a minute or more. If you quit out and re-open it, then it's all better. The same actor from above opens up instantly. So while I'm working I find myself having to close and restart the program every 30 minutes to an hour or so. It's not a huge deal to work around, but I do feel like there's an issue.

well, I went looking for extra RAM at best buy, and they didn't have the kind I needed for my iMac, so I ended up looking online and found what I needed for about $85 bucks from Amazon.... a Kingston 4GB 667 MHz upgrade kit. so when that gets here by mail in a couple of days, I will install that 4GB of RAM in place of the current 1GB on my machine.

hopefully this will fix the problem with GS performance on my iMac.

right now, when I open up GS and click on my project to open it in the GS Creator, it just sits there and waits for several minutes while it loads, and then anytime I click on any actor, scene, etc to edit them in GS Creator, it just sits there and waits several minutes each time. this happens immediately and constantly, not just after 30 minutes or so of having GS running. So basically, GS is pretty much non-functional on my computer at the moment.

Aside from adding the 4GB of RAM, is there anything else that I can do to help GS to run faster on my computer?
