Can you build GameSalad Viewer on an iPhone or iPad even if you aren't enrolled in the Developer Program?

You need an apple developer account, but you don't need to pay to join so you can get it.

oh, think you need the Provisioning Profile to build it the viewer...

but @architectpianist, you can make a GS build for desktop and try-out your stuff.
    just build for Macintosh.

in order to put the viewer on your iPad or iPhone, you must have an apple developer account.

you can build it and put it on the simulator, but that's not near an accurate way to test your game.

I downloaded iOS SDK 4, but in the pop-up for build options in Xcode it says, "Base SDK Missing." When I try to build GameSalad Viewer, I get the message "no SDK iphoneos4.1." Can anyone explain???

If I need to have an apple developer account ($100) to compile and run gamesalad viewer, what is the point, why not just publish and test my game as an app?

Because you also need the developer account to publish apps

But my point is if I need a developer account to use the viewer, what is the purpose of the viewer as I could just create the app and install it.

    syndu

in order to create an any app you need to have provisioning profiles created, which you can only do if you have a developer account. You also need the necessary certificates, AppID's and a few other things, all of which youc an't get without a developer account.

short answer: it's required if you ever want to get your game on a device.

If its just installed as a app or adhoc then you dont get to see the fps, memery usage, ect thats shown in the viewer..

I understand the need for the Developers Account to publish the app. But that wasn't my question.

Thank You JohnPapiomitis for actually answering my question about the VIEWER.
