Opinions on my general idea
I would like to put out the general idea for how my game is going to function. It's basic, but I would like to hear opinions on how I can do some things.
I plan to design a large game level. After designing the level Ill use actors to line off the ground walls and ceilings, as to make it you mega-man'ish type gameplay, just like ive seen in instructional videos, boxing the character into the design seems easy enough. My questions may be repeats, but I have been looking for specific answers and I usually find one to two line answers that don't do anything more for me than make me even more curious. Hope someone can help!
How big of a level can I design, one solid background, to use for the character to navigate through at once (after lining the ground and walls)? I saw a video where tshirtbooth mentioned 3000x3000, but Ive seen a sous chef say 1024x1024, if anymore it would need to be split up.
How do I set overlaying background images to scroll at different speeds when the character moves to left or right? Example would be; Moon and night sky, distant mountains and nearby tree line.
How do I get my character to act out a landing animation (I already know how to animate a characters movements) when landing from a longer jump? Not a normal jump, just a longer jump. Also, in that same category, how do I animate a quick jump movement just before the character jumps?
I have plenty of more questions, but don't dare ask them all at once, these are just the important ones.
Thanks guys!

They only move one way however. If I were tackling you project I would combine them with what I could learn from ORBZ demo here: I would be thinking that I would change the direction of the background actors based on the direction my actor was going in.

I couldn't find an exact demo of what you wanted however in case you didn't know Darren from Utopiangames has a template for sale that has tons of features including the back/forward parallax and a load of other features that you can learn from, all with experienced techniques so you can learn the right/best way to do things.
