I saw on dealnews that the game cannon pro was free today. I thought the graphics looked familiar so I downloaded it, and it's basically the canon template right out of , but with iads.

I'd like to hear from Rod as to what his motives were for pulling that stunt and how much he made off of it before it was made free (that was really big of him).
See, now he screwed all his paying customers by making them pay for an app with ads

Oh check out his potato cannon version http://itunes.apple.com/ca/app/potato-cannon/id392560182?mt=8 This is why GS should choose who gets their splash screen or not. It would be great for the rest of us if they pulled their slash screen from this guys crappy apps
I wish GS would at least watermark the images in the templates they offer.

Now Now dont be so harsh look at the screen shots he did change the background in at least one level to green. I'd sure like to hear GS position on this crap.
They should have two splash screens, a gs express splash screen and a gs pro splash screen. That should hopefully keep the good stuff out of the same pile as ripoff stuff like this
Oh! How could I miss that background change! Oops!
I don't recall his initial version having iAds support... could that mean that he recently did an update to 0.9.0 and is just someone who doesn't choose to participate on the forums?
I'd like to hear from GS on this as well. Man, that has got to be annoying.

That would be a good idea.

They really just need to make a Copyright portion of the TOS and have apple pull anything that is just a copy of their templates

Don't agree. I have the express membership, and I don't need pro at all. So it would be very unjust to put my game (or other nice games made with express) in one row with games such as Cannon Pro.

This very true. Something needs to be done about it though. this is the crap that gives GS a bad name. I would say the first couple apps submitted with a developer certificate need to be review by GS, not for being a "good" app or not, but for blatant rip offs of their own provided templates. maybe at least for express users.

change that this prick added iads so he's not on a free account. So I guess for all users. Geez that would get tedious. I guess maybe at least a review process for when we come across this stuff.
well... if it is free... we can download and inform users in a comment... that this is a GameSalad template... and they can get the whole set of templates free and without ads at gamesalad.com!
actually, GS does hold a copyright on their work... creative work is considered copyright at time of creation.
I just wanted to comment on this. We definitely took notice of the Cannon Pro game. We have contacted the developer and kindly ask that the game either be removed or republished with all new artwork.
Our templates are designed to help GameSalad developers get a little head start with game mechanics and genres and, most importantly, help them learn about the art of game design. Needless to say, they are not to opened and immediately published as someone else's original work.
In any regard, we are aware of the situation and in the process of resolving it quickly and easily. Thanks everyone for pointing this out and it's definitely got a lot of us talking around here on how to prevent such as situation going forward.

Waiting for Apple to approve is enough waiting time for me ... there ought to be a better way to do this as some have already mentioned! Reminds me on the goofballs who sell blender on ebay once in a while ...
As the developer of Cannon Pro I am deeply sorry for using Gamesalad's artwork and posting it to the app store. This was on of the first apps that I had made and was just eager to get an app on the app store. After I was contacted by Gamesalad, I immediately took the app off of the app store. Since then I redid all of the artwork and reposted that app to the app store. I also changed a few of the mechanics of the game. Again I am greatly sorry of all of the commotion this has caused and for using Gamesalad's artwork.
