Hi i have found a problem with game salad. But no-one seems to of heard of it.

When i go to Publish > iPhone > Upload As New Game > I call it "Earth Attack" > But when i click publish it says "App name must contain alphanumeric characters"

Has anyone had this problem before?

I think the problem is there is a place for an app name that can't have any spaces and then the name of the app for display purposes that can. I think that is what the problem is.

No, i cant call the app anything at-all. I keep getting the same error.

The people most knswledgable about this system are off for the weekend, but I have left an email for them to look at it when they get the chance.

I have tried publishing a game with the title Earth Attack, and see no problems, so I suspect it's not in the game title itself, but something about the project.

Sorry for the wait, we'll get back to you as soon we know anything.

I have just done a master rest on my mac, to see if it was just a bug but it still does not work.

Who has even heard of or had this problem?

I think you're the only one.

what if you open a template and try to upload that as a new game?

where are you located? US, Europe?
What are you using as your keyboard setup? At the company I work at now we sometimes have problems with Foreign OS's / Keyboards as the layouts are different and special characters are somewhere it wasn't expecting.

    I live in the UK.

And I can't upload any game not even templates.

go to system preferences and check your language and text / keyboard settings, do you have anything other that US selected? Check the input tab in language and text.

Anyone else from the UK here? What do you have under language and text under input?

    Another thing to try

when you go to name it, type in Earth Attack in Safari's URL browser. then copy and paste it into the name field in GameSalad just in case it's the UK keyboard getting in the way. Does that work?

On the keyboard i have US (now) but it still does not work, Can you check on AIM screen sharing. Please? Just to see if everything is ok

I don't use AIM, and I'm at work, everything like that is blocked. Try giving your machine a reboot just to be safe the change was pickedup.

try the two other things I suggested too, just using gh, and copying the name from safari or text edit.

Anyone from the GameSalad team have any idea if foreign keyboards would make a difference?

let us know what happens, maybe someone from the UK can do a session with you so you can compare settings.

I think it has something to do with you provisional profile. You you ever loaded this before?
  • iDeveloperziDeveloperz Member Posts: 1,169
    Um when xcode comes up?

I feel it could be something wrong with a developer thing.
  • JamesBoucherJamesBoucher Member Posts: 433
I would recreate you provisional and use a name with name spaces or special characters.

Ok but will i have to change anything with certificates or app id's?
