This would be a great feature if you want to make an Online RPG!

And it would open up so many possibilities!

Yeah, it would. I hope they are working on it.

Even if online attribute saving is added sometime before multiplayer it would allow you to make online games to some extend.

Eg. Attributes for each players x and y. Then each persons device updates the position all the time.

I really like Vmlweb's suggestion as a way to add social gaming functionality to GS without the complications (and computational overhead) of going full-on multiplayer.

I would so love to be able to open my games up this way. Right now they are walled gardens, like a private conversation between the game and the player. Just being able to save and load attributes from other player's games would re-make a game into a shared conversation between players. (De facto world building!)

Global leaderboards are probably the most obvious use, but I can think of myriad others.
Like: an essentially single-player RPG, but one in which you are able to buff your friends' characters remotely. (That mechanic has been incredibly effective for Facebook game design, for example.)

Or: a multi-level puzzle game with collaborative progression toward common goals. Consider one in which each player helps to restore a shared planet by playing levels as individuals. Then, after player Alice completes the deforestation level, player Bob would see more trees spawn in his game when he next plays.
