Make Strokes like Illustrator?

Hi there

I use Paint.NET for my graphics. But now I want to make Strokes around a Text or a word, like Illustrator can. The problem is that the 30 days from my Illustrator demo are over tomorrow. Know anyone a FREE programm that can make Strokes like Illustrator too?

    Inkscape.org is a free, open source vector graphics editor.

    Perhaps Graphicconverter from Lemke. Www.Lemke.com 39$ but free with an anoying delay at startup.
