Playing iPhone games on iPad

Have any of you ever done this where you download a game that is made for the iPhone and play it on the iPad? It's small on the screen, like the size of the iphone, but there's a little "2x" button that essentially doubles the size of the game for you to see it easier.
Is there anything that I need to do in order to get my game ready to be "out of the box" capable of being played on an iPad if it is designed for the iPhone? I'm assuming that it will literally just play on the iPad like it would on the iPhone (nice and small) and the "2x" option will just zoom it.
Am I assuming incorrectly?

If you design your game at 1024x768 and have camera scrolling for iPhone, it will open up full screen on the iPad. Oh yeah…and the iPhone and iPad have different screen ratios, so a game designed for iPhone is going to look stretched out a little bit on the iPad. Most people design a version for each device.
I'll find a way to test it on the iPhone, I guess. Was hoping to just test it on the iPad until I get my iPhone next month.
Anyone testing an iPhone game exclusively on iPad?
But I guess 960x640 really isn't all that much of a stretch to 1024x768 anyway, which is the iPad resolution.
I only have an ipad. Im waiting until my phone contract is up then I am getting an iphone.
I make the ipad games first, the use the project resizer to do most of the work. Then I have to tweek all of the variables. There is considerable testing to be done with this process.
