How come GS is free?

I'm certainly not complaining here!...

But how come GS is free? I realise that there is a paid pro version, and I haven't a clue how many GS users there are - but there's still no way that these paid accounts can get anywhere near to recouping the financial investment thats been made into GS, and the continual development costs.

Anyway, just my Sunday morning thoughts!
I hope it stays this way - long live (free) Gamesalad!

Is it free if you want to distribute it to the Appstore?
Isn't it $100 to GS to publish it?

No, it's $99 to Apple for a developers license.

The guys who started GS probably took some risks and put a lot of time into it as well. I'm only assuming that as I don't know them personally. But they recently raised $6 in funding. Im sure they have a mid-long term strategy to becoming profitable.

Haha, just noticed the lack of million in my comment

For the (I think 3?) guys that started GS - they must have felt pretty good when they secured that $6,000,000. Was I clear enough that time? ;)

So we don't have to pay GS if we want to distribute our game on the Appstore?
How do we convert our GS document to a HTML document to post on webpages?

No, GameSalad takes no money from you to publish to the app store.

You can't post on other webpages just yet, only to the GS Arcade. You can make a Facebook page from that, though. And that is all done through the GameSalad Creator when you choose "Publish"
