You CAN'T reserve an app name - duplication possible.(for games like chess)

Whilst reserving a couple of app names for upcoming projects I tried a little experiment. I created a new app called Angry Birds.... obviously with my own bundle ID....

And it worked?! It registered fine - now awaiting upload....

Did some research. It seems that there are a number of apps with exactly the same name - try 'chess'.

Thought I should share this with you guys - it would appear that the most important way to reserve a name is to publish your app before anyone else does...... then contact Apple or threaten legal action (I'm sure we all have the resources for this!)

    Weird.
They must have chaged the way it works, as I remember a time last year when I tried to register

"Doodle Shoot" I think it was, and it gave me an error saying the app name was already taken
HEnce why my doodle shoot em up is called Doodle Galaxies.

I spoke to the iTunes connect team about this last month at wwdc. They have changed it only for one reason. So different developers can all make generic games such as chess and just call it chess. However let's say you make a game called angry birds even though it could be nothing like the actual angry birds it will be rejected due to the fact that angry birds is a original game.
