App marketing and distribution sites

A few app marketers have contacted me with their services. On the surface it seems like a good idea. However, I feel if I spend the 500 dollars that they are asking I may never see that money again.

Has anybody here tried any app marketing and distribution company with success?

I would like to spend 100-200 dollars for a press release + contacting review sites. Does anybody know of anybody reputable in that price range?

This link was posted on another thread as well. Someone made this spreadsheet with a list of advertising sites.

Click business and marketing on the forum and check out te sticky. The only thing I would recommend spendingoney on is prmac.com I think I saw another user say it was like $40 and they send you press release to hundreds of sites. You can also track who publishes your press release. Otherwise contacting everyone in that sticky for free is your best bet.

We are doing this app marketing business for some months now. You can find some ideas for marketing your apps in our app marketing site. We can write and publish a press release for US $100. If you want to publish it alone, we can happily do it for US $50. You can pay after the work got done.

I think we could help you with some advices too.
