Color mode conversion

Doesn't exactly have to do with gamesalad but in adobe illustrator can you change the color mode of an image (without creating a new image) a bunch of my images are in cmyk and they need to be in rgb for gimp to be able to open them, thx

    Go to File > Document Color Mode> and check RGB option.
