I sold my MPB and now I have a fresh out the box iMac from the Apple Store here in the UK. Lion is installed. (there is no previous verion of anything installed, fresh out the box says it all) I have a paid dev account, and I can't install Xcode 4.1.1, it downloads and when its about to install I get an error message,
an error occurred while extracting files from the package "mzm.iyofpska.pkg"
When I click retry,
The application you tried to download could not be downloaded. Check your internet connection and try again.
Clearly thats not the problem and this has nothing to do with iTunesHelper, I have tried to quit it, I have followed all that stuff, restart/shutdown and still nothing.
Just would like to know if anyone has bought a new mac and tried to download Xcode? or if anyone has come across this problem? Have a solution?
(I have asked on the apple forums and no one answers) so thought I'ed ask here because without this Xcode I can't do anything with GameSalad at the moment
I went to https://developer.apple.com but when you click the link it takes you to the MacAppStore anyway. You can only download it from the MacAppStore since its free now.
Paid Dev accounts don't get any special treatment. Its one program for all
Don't know what to do now. My game is almost complete and I can't do any testing or submit because I can't download it
If you are just needing the viewer and code signing etc maybe you could try with the beta of 4.2 from developer.apple.com but that could just make things worse...
This is one of the many reasons why I still run Snow Leopard. I don't have to go through the Mac App Store to get it. (It won't let me either. Lion is required.) There was a download link for Xcode on Snow Leopard.
When I go to https://developer.apple.com to download Xcode the link takes me to the MacAppStore to download it from there. There is no install file in Applications folder, just downloads straight from the AppStore (3.17GB) then when its about to install I get that error message
You would think that a company like Apple would have fixed this issue by now
My GameSalad project file just sitting there waiting for Xcode to man up

It's a shot in the dark, but have you tried going into "Launchpad" and looking for the icon that says "Install Xcode", and installing from there?

There wasn't anything in LaunchPad or Applications/Downloads folder. But I got it to work now after the 5th download attempt, 3.17GB thats over 15GB I have downloaded in 24 hours.
