Do you need to have Xcode installed to install/run viewer? I only ask because I watched a video on how to install viewer and realized Xcode was involved.

Yep you need xcode and an Apple Developer account to install the viewer.

Try this one, it's more up to date. If you follow it by the letter you should be okay. It's the second one down.
