How far offscreen does a actor still work?

i have actors with random speed and the slowest takes 18 sec. to cross the screen while the fastest takes 4 sec. - so i set "timer -> after 20 sec. -> destroy actor"

i also set in the actor:
change attribute -> game.actorcount -> game.actorcount+1

and in the destroy timer:
change attribute -> game.actorcount -> game.actorcount-1

the problem is: the "-1" counter only works if the actor is still on screen. if it´s off screen it stops to work.

is there a time or distance limit to the offscreen activity of a actor?

any other idea how i could make this work?

    Ive heard they can go out as far as 500Pxs before they destroy but I have never done a test to see exactly.

    @both
    thx for the quick feedback

    @tshirtbooth

    they destoy after 80px? strange. i read in another thread they go on forever unless killed. maybe that was in an older version of GS...

    does a bigger scene put more processor load if it stays of screen?
