How does the Official Market Place work (not the threads)

If i purchase an art pack from the Marketplace (not from dba or tsb etc...), does GS see in the "Purchased" Tab? Also, is there a way i can open up a purchased art file and alter the color? I know they are png and not AI, but can is there a way to edit them or does GS encrypt them or somehow make them un-accessible?

No sure about editing them. but what you will get is a download of a package and when you run it it will load the images into GameSalad under the purchased Tab. I have no ideas on what the rules are for modifying the images.

There is a big spendy pack i want to purchase, but one item needs to be removed from the main character and that item would then be manipulated in GS (such as rotate it based on user touch etc..) If i can access the purchased PNG files, i can do the edit myself in PS. Maybe i will by a cheap object and see what i can do.

Thanks tsb. What i did was add the images into a project, then "show contents" on that project and grab the png from there. I couldn't seem to find them in the Resources folder.

There are several ways you can grab the images once loaded into GameSalad. The issue I see is some artists may have rules about editing the image. Its their IP even though you bought the right to use it you may not have bought the right to modify it. Sounds like something GS needs to Clarify. I would think most would be fine with it. but you never know.

BTW the Show package contents method if for the GameSalad app. not an individual project file.

Some will need editing regardless. The assets i bought have like 20 (or more) pixels of blank around the image. I like to crop my work tight so it doesn't look stupid with collisions. For instance, i bought one graphic that is 128x128. The actual image is like 96x80. So i cropped it to 96x80.

Well sure thats not the modification i'm talking about. fzeed is asking about modifying the Actual image.

And honestly GameSalad needs to give these artists some better guidelines. I would be pissed if I paid for artwork through GameSalad and it still needed transparency cropped off to make it work with my game.
