How do you automatically save progress during game?

In other words when a player returns to the game I want them to be able to continue from where they left off automatically.

    If they just leave the app and then return the scene should be as it was - ios puts it into sleep state

    But if you want to be able to leave the scene by returning to the menu, or by closing the app and removing it from multitasking - and then go back to as it was - you would need to save a lot of information! The x,y,rotation,direction,speed of every moving actor, scores etc. And then load those attributes and recreate the scene.

    Depending on the type of game this could be very complex.

    Ok, thanks for the information applaudmobile.

    I didn't know ios put it into sleep mode automatically – which is all i really need it to do, since the other choice sounds a bit over my head :)

    The best way is to have "save points" on every level.

    Wright now I have only test level in my game, so I didn't made this part yet. I believe there is a video tutorial from tshirtbooth on youtube.
