    HEY GUYS,
DUE TO COMPLAINTS AND MY PERSONAL OPINION, I CHANGED THE JELLO THEME AND NOW ITS JUST A "TANK" THEME, I WOULD LIEK ADVICE FROM ALL GREAT GS DEVELOPERS ON HOW TO MAKE THIS INTO A GREAT APP. "I am a bit tired of some of the 'crap' that some gs users churn out every year, like apps based around different styles of art from different free "public domain" art websites. SO I AM DEDICATED MYSELF TO MAKE ONE GOOD APP (MY APPS ARE PRETTY CRAP AT THE MOMENT, (YOU CAN PLAY MISSILE RACE ON THE GS ARCEAD, {IT WAS MY FIRST APP}) SO IN THSI CASE I AM DETERMINED TO MAKE A GOOD APP, ONE THAT COULD MAYBE EVEN BE SOMEDAY AS GOOD AS ONE OF TSHIRT BOOTHS GAMES OR STORMYSTUDIO/UTOPIAN GAMES' GAMES. SO I AM DEDICATING MYSELF AND ALOT OF TIME INTO THIS ONE APP,
"AS YOU CAN SEE I GOT RID OF THE JELLO THEME AND ADDED A TANK STYLE THEME, SO TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK AND GIVE ME SOME ADVICE AND ALL THAT,

    --------------------
NOW THE ONE THING IM REALY STUCK ON, IS THE CONTROL, I WAS THINKING MULTI-TOUCH BUT I DONT KNOW HOW I WOULD IMPLEMENT/INSTALL IT INTO MY APP, (MAYBE TAP LEFT SIDE TO GO LEFT AND RIGHT TO GO RIGHT, AND TAP THE SCREEN TO SHOOT, WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK OF THAT??,
    -------------------

new screenshots, will have a video up in a while and better screenshots:

    Hey,

If you just want the gun to be pointing in one direction the whole time you can make it so you tap the tank to shoot, and the right and left sides to move. That's what it is in Jelly Car except you tap the tank to change size. You should still consider my accelerometer idea though.

    Leonard-D,

I like the idea of the Jelly theme - you could have some fun with that. Jelly characters, jelly tanks, splatting and exploding etc... The tank ideas been done loads of times - I've done 3 games in this genre for clients in the past 18 months - go with something more fun and unique.

As for the GUI. You'd be far better off going for a tilt control / Accelerometer control system - where by the user has to tilt the device to move the 'hero', then tap the screen to fire. All the ones I've worked on had the tilt/tap shoot method, and it does seem the best setup, though a simple joystick system also works. Maybe have a menu where the user can choose the GUI setup: TILT, JOYSTICK, SCREEN ZONES?

Back to your game though; I've quickly done a wobbly character, and popped it into one of our templates (no plug intended). If your interested in the project file I'll send it over to you to have a play with. With a lot more effort, characters, theme, animations etc etc.. you could build a really cool game, that'll be fun to play.

Here's a video link, with the Wobbly character I've just done. 15 mins in Illustrator :-O

This demo has some basic joystick controls, but like I said, it works better with tilt controls - that should only take you 10 mins to set up - then you'll be all set.

I popped Ace's backdrops in too, to help you visualise and relate to your screenshots in this posting - but you could really do with more backdrops and fun parallaxing going on.

    Cheers
    Wayne

That was nice of you to make that! Looks really good.

I hadn't thought of Joystick control-now that would fit perfectly!
    LD should definitely do that.

You sure you don't want to use the two joystick controls Wayne made you? I think that would be even better.

I love the jello idea if you can do it right. It would just be very hard in gamesalad to make it perfect. That's all.

    Good Luck!

  • SnapFireSnapFire Member Posts: 361
So you're not going with the jelly theme? The splash is very good, but not jelly style at all.

Ive decided to split the app into two different versions,
    Appname: jello version
    appname: Original
    --
they won't be just different versions of the same app, they will also have different levels and different gameplay and stuff!
    Tell me what you think??

Kinda just sounds like extra work, but hey, if you're doing, it, sure.
