How To Create A "Shake To Shuffle" Effect

Hey everyone,
In one of the apps I'm working on, I would like to have a certain action occur when the user "shakes" the device. Similar to the Shuffle option in the Music app where you simply shake the device to shuffle through your library. I know this would involve the accelerometer somehow, but I'm not sure what math would be used. Thanks in advance for your help
