Honey Tribe: Colony Collapse v1.3 has just gone live on iTunes!

The best eco-racer for iOS just got a new update. Once again you can help Corbee the drone bee (and unlikely hero) to save the colony and find out what is making all his friends sick.

GS users in particular might find the unique sound design interesting. Each flower you collect makes a musical chime which plays in time with the various other musical elements. So as the player you control the melody of the game.

Also, after the initial load there are no loading times as the main game is one scene. So pausing, changing level or restarting a level is all very seamless which makes for a smooth gameplay experience.

If you didn't pick up Honey Tribe the first time round here's what Pocket Gamer had to say about it: “It's rare to find a game with such a strong ecological message as Honey Tribe: Colony Collapse...Honey Tribe is not only a remarkably endearing little game, but it's also incredibly addictive." - Silver Award, 8/10

Update Features:

Those pesky crab spiders are a bit easier to see now.
And the praying mantis won't creep up on you so soon in endless mode.
In both story and endless mode your (bee) ninja skills will now be more apparent.
Endless mode is a whole lot more fun with the improved score system. Chain scoring gives a bigger score multiplier. Feel that tension when you collect 50 flowers without getting hit!
Also a few bug fixes.

Some more nice things people have said about Corbee and his chums:

“The endearing hand drawn nature of the graphics is a particular shining light to the whole thing making it a touch above the rest in the endless running genre.” - 148apps.com, 4/5

“If you’re a nature lover, or simply a lover of well-executed games, Honey Tribe: Colony Collapse is worth checking out. Download it today.” - AppAdvice.com, 4.5/5

“But the brilliance of this game is that it raises awareness of a real-world problem...This is a good game that’s also doing some good.” - TouchReviews.net, 4/5

I've allocated a few promo codes for the GS forums so just leave a message here if you'd like one.

    Thanks for the promo:) I

Its a really funny and cute game, and actually addicting aswell. I am missing some uprades for the bee. Thats the only thing that the game miss. Would give it a 4.9/5. Upgrades for the bee.

    PL:)

Glad you like it. Yeah you're right about upgrades or more power-ups. I've been busy with Ashley Ao (and other things) so haven't given much time to Honey Tribe lately. But gradually I'll add more abilities/upgrades etc.

For anyone who hasn't yet played there's a give-away for Infinity Blade 2, Honey Tribe and Don't Run with a Plasma Sword over at iFanzine

Yes, I saw the game you are working on! looks fantastic! When you have time I really think you should add a store or something, so you can buy upgrades/powerups. Also when IAP comes I think it will really boose your income, and most impoortant it will be a fantastisc game!

Great to hear your enthusiasm for our games - cheers :)

Yeah, I'd like to make a really nice upgrade system that builds on the current in-game currency. (Which is only in endless mode at the moment). I just have to allocate some time to do it...

looks and plays well but those system fonts gotta go man. They're like a sore thumb in a masterpiece.

Yeah I started off with jpgs for the speech bubbles. But that added waaay too much to the file size and RAM. Turns out there's actually quite a lot of story in the story mode! (Well, for a casual game there is).

I think the speech bubbles look ok with the system fonts though (on a 3gs, havn't tested on iphone 4 for a while). Or do you mean the scores?

    The scores.

Hmm, yeah score fonts could be nicer... Maybe next week GS will give us bunch of nice new fonts and then I won't have to put more strain on the device processor with the usual 'custom font' work arounds... maybe...

@8BitGrenade - Hmm, well even if they're neutral they probably need changing to actually look nice. Would rather all the visual aspects are a positive.

@tshirtbooth Cheers. Yeah I'm probably too attached to this game, hence the updates. But also I think it has the potential to be a really 'sticky' casual game. So I'm gradually adding features and content to make it more fun and playable.

So if anyone has any more suggestions or requests for the next update, feel free to say so here.

Just for an experiment I set Honey Tribe to free for a few days using the Apple schedule system. This time it seems to have worked to get picked up by price drop websites. Last time I did it manually and the robots missed it.

If you download don't forget to leave a review and rating.
