Constrain or swap out images?

So, I'm going to be adding items to my "hero" character after a "powerUp" and I'm planning on making new images for these items and constraining them to the hero. The other way I thought of would be to create new character images and just swap out the images with some attribute work.

I'd have to have multiple animation sequences with different "states" if I didn't constrain.

So, I guess the question is... Do people tend to use constraints for powerups or image/animation swapping?

    I guess a new image will be better because constrain is no good for the preformence

    Well, I think you should go image swapping if you are already having troubles keeping performance good, it will increase load times.

    On the other hand, only 2 constrains would not destroy performance.

    Depends on ur situation
