Why would apple do that?

I just tried to check my itunes connect, and got this message: https://itunesconnect.apple.com/iTCHolidayShutdown.html . Now I completely understand the lack of staff on the holidays, and so you wouldn't be able to publish/update an app or anything else that requires the assistance of an apple employee. But why deny us access to the whole site, preventing us to do so many things like check sales, get promo codes, check for crash reports/customer reviews?

    they close it because if you mess with certain app setting it will remove your app from sale until they reopen. They don't want you to make any mistakes on your own.

    Also its a good excuse to put the sales out of your mind for a week and focus on your family for the holidays :)

    Besides there are not sales reports during the shut down anyway.

    I use appfigures.com and so far they are still reporting figures, and have seemed to be able to do so through prior holiday shutdowns.

    App figures most likely will not be reporting sales from today on. I hope they do but I am doubtful. Appannie sent out and email saying they will not be doing sales reports for the shutdown.

    @tenrdrmer - I received that email too, I think sites like AppAnnie and AppFigures get their reports off something similar to an RSS feed that they then pass on to their customers. During the holiday shut-down, Apple won't be issuing those feeds, so I don't think any site will be able to get access to your daily sales.

    I stand corrected. Appfigures is not reporting either. :(
