hi people!

i followed TShirtBooth's video on setting up the certs provisions, etc and got to the point of running the gamesalad viewer (0.9.90). But when I try to preview the game on my iPod, it says "Connected", and Loading Game... been waiting for over 10 minutes and nothing happens. I'm just testing out the regular platformer template which I found here : http://www.mediafire.com/?odhem2f2hga43w5

everything else is working: wifi, xcode project, etc

can anyone help me with this?

i'm using XCode 4.1, but i'm upgrading to 4.2 and retesting again.

i get 2 warnings when i open the Xcode project:
d: warning: directory not found for option '-L/Users/bazookaBen/Downloads/viewer-distribution/Plugin Libs/kiip'
ld: warning: directory not found for option '-L/Users/bazookaBen/Downloads/viewer-distribution/Plugin Libs/kiip'

Is the device going to sleep while its loading. For some reason GS has the viewer auto sleep after a period of no activity on the screen so while its loading if it goes to sleep t disconnects from wifi. If you notice the screen dim make sure you tap it so it does not go to sleep.

Try creating a network on your mac in the wifi settings then connecting your iDevice to it. This fixes most viewer problems for me.

@bazookaben same thing is happening to me ever since I downloaded the new GS creator/viewer .9.90 update. I don't get any warnings though, but when I try to load the game through the viewer to my phone it just stays there with no activity on the loading bar. I contacted GS support a couple days ago, hopefully I'll hear back from them with a fix on this.

I've had this problem since June when it just started hanging. I've tried an ad-hoc network, several iOS devices and many many new versions and builds.

I gave up, but I hope someone has help.

@tenrdmer i kept tapping the screen, no response. i also noticed that when the game creator tries to load the game into my iPod, the GS viewer app itself hangs (you can't tap the "Recent Games" and "Instructions" buttons)

    To recap:
I launch Xcode, run the GS Viewer code on my Ipod, it says "Connected to wifi", Waiting for GameSalad Creator.
So I launch my GameSalad Creator, there's a button that appears, saying Preview on iPhone. I click it, connect to my iPod... compiling assets, loading game.. then it hangs. The app itself hangs cos the "Recent Games", "Instructions" can't be tapped.

    Debug message from Xcode:
2012-01-23 08:43:46.380 GameSalad Viewer[4756:707] *** __NSAutoreleaseNoPool(): Object 0x283530 of class __NSCFDictionary autoreleased with no pool in place - just leaking
    Current language: auto; currently objective-c

    Try disable Bluetooth on iPod

    @imGua it's already off, and doesn't play a role :(

Hi bazookaBen, just a thought: when you redid it all using XCode 4.2, did you use the latest GameSalad Viewer.xcodeproj? might be a conflict there.

    one more thing I discovered

after 2-3 days of it working, suddenly the GS Viewer app starts giving yellow signals "Not connected to GameSalad".

been doing some reading on this. Don't bother reinstalling Xcode, or resetting the device. I think the best solution is to set up your own WiFi network, with your MacBook/Mac Device acting as the hotspot.

    What I did

    disabled Wifi
connected computer to the internet with Ethernet cable
Enabled Internet Sharing ( look it up in the Properties section of Mac OS X ). Gave my WiFi network a name. Made it secure by using a 128-bit key. Generated one random key at http://www.andrewscompanies.com/tools/wep.asp

disconnected test device (iPad/iPhone/iPod) from old Wifi network, then connected to that new WiFi network I just made
deleted the previously installed GSViewer app, then restarted test device to be safe

launched XCode, ran GS Viewer on test device

the "Preview on iPad/iPhone" icon was back again!
