Touch Arcade - how to get a review

Hey guys,

As you well know, Penguin Pounce has been released and isn't doing so hot.
I wanted to get some good publicity and thought of touch arcade. I thought you might need to submit your app to them, but I don't see a way to do that?
Do they just find you app on the app store and do a review for random apps?

So I was wondering, how do you have them review your app?

Thanks everybody,
Bray

They have an email address, like tips@toucharade or something, it's on their main page. But I think for most games, they just browse their forums and pick games that look interesting, at lest for us small developers. They reviewed my game a long way home last summer and I had not sent them an email.

Interesting @jonmulcahy - did you post on the forums?

Do a great game. If your game's great then they will review it. Probably.

But to boost your chances to get noticed aim for a wednesday night release. The big shots usually release on wednesday night that's why TA usually do a mid week article listing all the notable releases for that night. They check the New Zealand store and if something catch their eyes they start a thread on their forum for it. If by any chances they don't start a thread for your game do it yourself, try to do the post to look like theirs this will increase your chances to be noticed by them. Then usually they do a followup review for the games they listed on the mid week article.

That's what I did with my last game Aetherium II. I set the release date for 12/01 (obviously it was screwed up by Apple and it was listed with the approval release date). As soon as it was available on the NZ store I started checking the TA forum to see if they picked it up. They didn't so I started the thread myself and it got some nice comments. Then it happened. They listed my game on their new releases article and some days after they followed up with a full review. The review wasn't really nice so it didn't boost my sales too much. But hey, it's a good start.

    Thanks for the info, @MarkOnTheIron.
I've started a thread, we'll see if it gets anything done. :-)
