Restrict a the length of text

Hi all

How can I restrict a person from entering too many characters?

Example: I have an 'enter a name' actor that allows users to enter their name, but I want to restrict the length to about 8 characters?

    I'm not sure if you can, but I have not played with the keyboard function at all

    You'd have to use a custom keyboard (an actor for each letter) and then concatenate the letters that are tapped, stopping once game.wordlength > 7. It would be great if GameSalad had string and character functions in addition to the math functions.
