Recording My App to make a Trailer

This question seems to get asked a lot but never seems to get answered so I thought I would ask again.
How do I record my app while it's running so I can make a trailer?
If I use the iOS simulator it lags, if I use GS it lags, if I use a camera and record my app on my iphone it looks unprofessional.

Can Anyone suggest anything please?
Thanks

You can try soundstage and/or another screen recording software besides quicktime, but if it still lags you just might have to record on a computer with more ram or somethingg

For my promo video, I am sending a build to my iPad 2 and using the HDMI cable to project the image onto my TV. From there, I'm recording my TV with a Canon 5D Mark III (Just got it, great camera!) and using that footage in my promo.

    Hope it helps,

    Steven,
As I recall, the HDMI cable is $20 and is great for mirroring the screen onto your TV. The performance does not drop from what I can tell and it also can show the game retina sized if you are making your game with retina graphics.

thanks for the replies, I'm running a .4 GHz core 2 Duo with 4 GB ram.
It seems like it should be enough to me.
When talk about the lagging I'm referring to the simulation of the app, not the recording of the app. Just in case that wasn't clear. Is it normal for the iOS simulator to lag?

iOS simulator lags for me when using GS viewer.

    iMac middle 2011
    2,5 GHz Intel Core i5
    16 Gt 1333 Mhz DDR3

I don't think it's much about your ram.

Don't use the viewer in the simulator, just record the gamsalad application in preview mode.

Gamesalad application in preview mode lags as well, it never used to , started around 4 months ago after an update.

It runs on the device fine, I spend a huge amount of time making builds and testing.

All this is helping, it's very interesting seeing why people are working around the problem.
Last night I tried something similar.
From my iPad I used Airplay and Airserver to send it to my mac, I then used Soundstage to capture it. It seemed to be working, but then when I played it back it was dropping frames.

the weird thing is, why will the preformance be so bad on the computer and so good on the device?

Good run down of the various options http://www.iphonelife.com/blog/87/how-record-video-what-happens-iphone-ipad-screen-video-editing-and-conversion-tips-free-tool
Very Interesting, so it's looking like I need to invest some money in some high end equipment. Then I can set up a service in which people send me their apps, I then charge $20 for 5 minutes of high quality recorded game play.
