Block becomes lots of Tiny Blocks

Greetings GS Forum!

I am trying to add a rule that states-

-On Touch
-Actor is deleted and becomes lots of tiny blocks
-Tiny blocks fade away after X amount of seconds

Should I use particles or animation for this?

Example: When I touch this Blue Block, it will disintegrate into lots of smaller blue blocks that eventually fade away.

Suggestions?

PS: Picture a Minecraft block when it is destroyed. The animation of it turning into lots of tiny blocks is the sort of effect I hope to achieve.

@Blackmill ... my thoughts are that I would use particles. Should be able to get it looking right and I think it will be less drag on FPS/RAM (however I haven't tested that theory) ... just I have used lots of particles and it didn't seem to effect FPS.

Use particles. You should get the effect you want.

EDIT: Simo beat me to it!

@Tshirtbooth How would I make it so that the triggering of the particles occurs due to touch rather than collision?
