So sidescrolling tanks have been done before.... How can we re-invent that? any ideas

Dear All,
I have decided I want to make a sidescolling tank game, Been on Skype with a couple of people including @ozboybrian and basically.. Just wondering how cam you re-invent the clichéd practice of making side scrolling tank games... Any Ideas?

Topdown= Topdown not sidescrolling lol.....
Side scrolling is exactly what it says... Scrolls from the sides..

Hmm...... You could have the tanks race to a certain point while killing each other? Or maybe you mix in some other type of objective?

@theCodeMonsters yeah, but that would probably be better suited for top down so you can actually see that it's a tank lol. But thats just my personal preference

Tunneling Tanks. Kind of a combination of a side scroller and Mother Load (). You tunnel down/up to get powerups and collect items for points and when you come top-side again, you can pummel the enemies.
