What do you think of my art? How do I improve it?

Hi Guys,
So I'm trying to make a candy like in cut the rope, Unfortunately as some of you may know, I'm crap at art! ;)
So this is what I came up with: image

I was trying to make candy like this, What on earth do I do to fix it :)

    Hey Jack,

    I think what your going to want to do is get rid of some of the red and white stripes.
    It looks to distracting as it is.

    Add gradients to each red and white stripe. This will be much better then a solid color.
    Notice the shadows, they are just darker tones of the original colors, do the Same, give it some glossy overlay and see how it works. :)

    PS:My game wasn't based on DBA's template it was based on an video tutorial by DBA :P

    Oh right excuse me, lol It just looks like DBA's template :D sorry about that!,
    Thats for the tips.. I've tried a bigger stroke but its even worse :D

    Try to get rid of the thin lines and try to add bigger strokes
    that are my tips :D

    PS:i made that in five minutes, i think when i would take more time i could do it almost exactly...
    maybe we should go together when we are older and make a new company :D
