If I constructed my game off a basic demo provided, will I still be able to publish it?

So I used one of the demos (a basic high score menu system) to work with, and I'm all ready 40-50 hours into making it. I want to make sure I haven't wasted my time :)

40-50 hours in? Wow, big project. The files are there to learn from so as long as you're not just uploading it as-is then you will be fine.

    demos are interactive instructions …
examples of rules/behaviors/expressions … with a demonstration of how that all works

while there are many ways to do things in GS …
the rules/behaviors/code do have syntax that has to be used correctly

thus, inevitably, we all use the same expressions …

when a demo works perfectly for what we want … we have to use those bits to get those results

in general, use your own assets for gfx/sfx … but do use the behaviors that work!

for templates … that a developer has granted the rights to use the code (with purchase) … then build on that code to make a unique game.

well, 40-50 hours including art design, sounds, music, and fundamental game mechanics... but either way, the game is really nothing like the demo I started from. I just wanted a basic menu to work from :)

Then you should be okey. As long as you dont use any of the graphics of said demo you can use templates to help you build the kind of game you want
