You only have to be a mac dev to sell your mac apps in the macappstore(.app files, not a disc), you dont have to be to build for mac and do anything else with it. -

@JohnPapiomitis, you're saying I can build a game in Mac format just for local use?
I'd like to build some of the demo GS games to Mac, just to see what the process is like. When I hit 'Publish', I have to choose various categories and settings (primary, secondary, the language of the game, etc) - it looks like the game is 'going' somewhere. Will this process really just result in a local application being built on my Mac, or is the game being filed or catalogued or published someplace else as well? I'd just like to check this before I proceed to build. Thanks. -

From my experience I believe that that isnot possible right now. Your publishing options are GS Arcade, iOS, Android, and Mac
Apple is the boss. They control pretty much everything... You have to sign up to be a mac dev (iOS is $100/yr (I don't know about mac)), and yes they have to accept it.
And yes, you can simply drag the "published" application from where you saved it to a CD-R/CD-RW and then burn it.
you can email it …
of course, it only runs on a Mac.
