How to rotate a part of a character

As in the old snake games, how can I rotate just a portion of a character instead of the whole thing? I just want the first part of the guy to change direction when someone swipes a certain way....

    That can't be done, just rotating parts of an actor, you will have to make a number of different square actors and make them 'follow the leader'.

    Thanks - any idea how to constrain a character to only exist in the context of following a leader?

    You can make a snake head actor that follows swipe controls and then a snake body actor that constrains its position and width (or height) to a value dependent on the time that elapsed since the snake head turned.
