Every time when I sit down to work I get stuck on facebook, gamesalad forum or youtube.. and it ends up being only a third of the time I planned to work that I really worked. So if anyone has a tip they want to share, feel free to share them! :)

Ages ago I used some software that would block certain websites for a set period of time. That was quite handy.

Make a game you would love to play - this keeps me productive, mobilized and motivated.

Plan a game in a mini notebook, and by the time you have almost too many pages of ideas for it, you realize that you are itching to start. Then you itch that itch, and then start ;)

Write down on a piece of paper 1 - 3 goals you are going to accomplish while sitting at your computer for the session. Put a clock in front of the paper. Give yourself a fixed amount of time and RACE yourself to accomplish those items on the list in the set amount of time.

Game theory applied to game making ;)

I usually watch some Game Dev related lectures, interview etc. on the second monitor while developing a game. Maybe I do not work as fast as I could, but at least I work on a regular basis.

Get control of yourself and discipline your time. What you always read about traits of successful people is they are very good at time management and disciplined workers.

True. And they also get up extremely early. That's where I go wrong.

Procrastination is healthy. however, to much can give you a hairy palm and make you go blind.

Time management is key, not only in the game creation we are doing here, but in life. You cant put down work for a couple hours because you got distracted. Although it is a hard skill, it is one you need to learn. There is a good site I have below for you to look at.
