Hello all,

Are we able to use brand names in our games. For example, I want to have names of cars in my game like lexus gs 300, bmw m3 and so on. Can I state that in my game. Also products from companies such as sony,hp, and have it list a particular model number. So I want to show images of products that I drew and say they are from a particular company and have a description of them. Is this possible?

Thanks

    Hello,

I believe all of those names are trademarked and copyrighted, ect. therefore you cannot do that. I could be wrong though.

You need to ask the brand if you can use their name and they need to accept.

Hi, I pretty much certain that your app will not be accepted if you use brand names in it (although I could be wrong; I'll be interested in other members' opinions on that point); although even if it's OK, you surely have to put registered company/copyright info....

I wouldn't go down this path either way buddy, Its a slippery road. I have seen top companies avoid using even the simplest copyrighted names from fear of legal trouble. There are plenty of games you could make without having to do this. Hope I am helping in some way.

    Cheers

Well, it seemed like your theme of brand names were cars. Maybe you could make up your own brand. The GX Quad Force Strike 4X Viper. :)) YAYAY

All of those are copyrighted and you can get in trouble by using any of them without getting permission from the copyright holders if you even get past Apple to get in on the store in the first place

If you're dealing specifically with cars you could see how Rockstar circumvents this in their gta games. By changing your models and images enough it's possible to achieve a recognizable look and name without violating any rights but it's a fine line to walk

As a general rule of thumb everything is copyrighted unless specifically released under licenses that allows free use like variations of Creative Commons or Public domain
