A friend of mine would like to get into app development, but he posed a question to me that I did not know the answer to, myself. I've read the terms of service, but I'm not experienced in law by any means. In short, is there some way that GameSalad can claim ownership and thus, the profits from any application produced using their software? The terms mention copyright, so does that mean to protect myself, I simply have to apply for a copyright for each app I produce?

    Automatically? Should I be placing copyright information in some of my scenes? Must I apply for a copyright? I just don't want all the work I put into an app to be for nothing. I appreciate your input.
    YES, each part of the app automatically belongs to its creator. It's simple law.
