For kickstarter besides those fees, do you have to pay back the money you got to the funders like on appbakr?

no, kickstartr people donate money for 'rewards' they have a pretty good FAQ on the service on their website

@Hapiapps no, but Kickstarter takes like 30% of the profit made, or something along those lines

$45,000? That is going to be a HUGE advantage over your competitors. I don't even think anyone here has that type of budget. If you use the money correctly, your game should turn out great. Can't wait to see it!

    Cheers

Somehow...I think you won't need to worry about paying to market it...

Anyway, great work and good luck!

Do you have a planned date to release it?

Haha I agree, it looks like he might just have enough cash to do a little marketing ;)

    Hi everyone,

Thanks for the nice comments. This project has been the hardest thing I have ever done. I plan to release in early 2013 but no set date at the moment. By then I will have worked on it for almost 2 years. I’ve been meeting with skywalker ranch audio production guys and making connections with musicians and other talents that I hope to hire along the way. I have several more characters to complete so its going to be a busy summer/fall on the computer.

I don't know if this is a case of a miscommunication, but a Kickstarter thread was thwarted by a Sous Chef as a violation of the forums rules:

    http://forums.gamesalad.com/discussion/46357/support-us-on-kickstarter#latest

Yet this one was not, and in fact it has received positive acknowledgements from Head Chefs. Clearly the issue of Kickstarter threads needs to be made CRYSTAL CLEAR for all forum members, since I'm sure there are many of us who would consider Kickstarter as a means to fund our fledgling projects (I know that I am one).

My apologies to gsmetzer for any perceived infraction upon your thread, I will say that your project looks absolutely amazing and I can't wait to play your game. All the best! :D

@basil81 Stay tuned as this issue is currently being discussed.

yea, it's a new rule in development, and the last post on the topic was before we started talking about it, so new rules can't really apply to old threads.
  • basil81basil81 PRO Posts: 103
@jonmulcahy Sorry, the rule that was cited in the closed thread was the Advertising rule, which was started by SSS in January and amended in April, well before this thread was started. I'll be very interested to hear what you have to say after the discussion, thanks.
  • jonmulcahyjonmulcahy Member, Sous Chef Posts: 10,408
it's a new rule for specifically for kickstarter and the like. Those services are a fine line between advertising/fundraising, hence the discussion.

I stumbled upon your game in the forums yesterday and I love your art. It is so beautiful and inspiring. The interactive fiction idea is unique and timely, it should appeal to children and adults. Many blessings on completing the project.
