All Forum Changes - Main Thread

Hey everyone,

So while looking at my contest thread I noticed that some people have had stars put next to there names and others have had smiley faces put next to there name. Does anyone know what this means exactly? What does 1 star, 2 stars, and 3 stars mean? What does the smiley face mean? The forums have been getting a lot of changes lately, it would be cool if we kept this thread going so when a change is made, someone can post here explaining what the change is, ect. How does that sound? Post letting everyone know your thoughts on all the changes made recently. Hope this is helpful to some people looking for answers about the recent changes, I know its helpful to me!

    @VentoraStudios - that's the new Rank system. It's tied to the points associated with your profile. You gain points for posts and badges and are assigned the corresponding rank based on the point value.

    There does seem to be a slight issue with the ranks being added to everyone. I'm still digging into it to see if I can determine the cause of the mismatch.

    Can you explain what stars mean what? For example, If I have 3 stars, what does that mean?

    There are Points inside your profile - the more points you have, the more stars you get :)

    Four stars mean you are a keeper of knowledge....hmmm good thing a computer ranks me..lol

    Yeah I know my points were wiped and my rank isn't working. Hope you guys sort that out soon!

    Never really got the points system, from one hand it sometimes jumps in big numbers or doesn't move much for many posts. Also, 'best of' list have some top dogs like TSB and SSS, missing some of the guys with 1000's of posts (e.g. Darren), but have some with less than 100 posts but 1000's of points. Badges are nice, but if I look at someone badge it is not always clear what you need to do in order to get it.

    But it is not really a issue, just a fun factor.

    @EatingMyHat - yeah, it is sometimes difficult to determine how to earn a badge. I think @SaladStraightShooter was going to make a badge guide, not sure where that idea went, though

    I noticed that there is a Warnings selection under the Notifactions tab. Is this for when you do something bad on the forums and why am I allowed to see other's warnings?
