"Revealing" an Actor

Hi Everyone,

Does anyone know if it is possible to "reveal" an actor (for lack of a better word) with a "wipe" effect? What I mean is, I have an actor that is a tree. I want the tree to look like it's growing from it's bottom to it's top. (I'm not talking about a scale or an interpolate)

Like in Keynote or PowerPoint, you can "build in" an object on your slide in a number of different ways - dissolve, move in, spin, etc. Well one of them is "wipe". Is there a way to replicate that effect in GamesSalad.

Hope this question even makes sense for people. Thanks for any help you might have!!

One simple way would be to have a rectangular actor that matches your background that sits on top of the tree, which you then move or interpolate up, revealing the tree.

    Yeah, that's a great idea.

Thanks 921! Yeah, I thought about that too. Unfortunately, my background is pretty complicated (as opposed to just a solid color). It would look strange to have a chunk of background just suddenly move up. Thanks for the tip though.

You could animate the object. If the actor is a tree, for example, save it with just the bottom showing, then a little more, and so on until you have the whole tree. Then just play the animation when you want to "reveal" the tree... I can't think of anything more clever than that at the moment.

It's not a wipe but your could interpolate your actors alpha to fade it in from 0 to 100%.
