Images dimensions in Finder Vs images dimensions in GS!

Hi,

I have around 6-7 jpg backgrounds in my finder and they are 3.1 mb. I import them in GameSalad and the project size is 13.1 mb!!!

What is happening??

    Gamesalad converts images to .png format on import I believe, maybe that is why?
