Is it possible to make a Sonic type game in GS?

Just as the title says I am interested in making this type of "Fast" platformer. One that can have loops, paralax backgrounds, platforms and speed- much similar to a Sonic The Hedgehog type game.

I am looking at GS and iT2D. iT2D makes this look possible but i've heard some negative things involving frame rate issues.

If this is not possible, what types of games are reasonably possible with GS at this point? I read somewhere on these forums that GS has trouble with "Multi-scenes", but I am not sure what that means as I haven't messed with GS yet.

Hi, welcome to the forums :)

I think you'd be hard pressed to make that kind of game. FireMapleGames very generously made some tutorials (find some here: http://gamesalad.com/p/firemaplegames ) that you could take a look at.

Games that work well seem to be physics based games and puzzle games.

    Hope that helps,

    Thanks for the welcome :)

I see a SHMUP type game in the promo video for GS- do those work well?

Also can you explain this Multi-Scene thing? Does that mean GS is not good at leaving 1 screen?

I've got a few SHMUPS in production. The greatest enemy is spawning actors. You won't be able to do something like Espgaluda II ( http://gamesalad.com/forums/topic.php?id=5449 ) but I think you could do something pretty interesting nonetheless.

Have a look at Wayne's tank template as a very good example: http://gamesalad.com/forums/topic.php?id=5341
