How do i remove the white background of an image?

i tried to use a picture with a transparent background as an actor but my image only appears as a white box. How can i remove the white background or how can i stop it from making the whole image white when i have a transparent background?

    you have to drag the picture from image window onto the actor, read the pdf manual to get the basics of GS.

    If you want to make the actor transparent, make its opacity = 0 through the color option.

    First be sure the exported image is a PNG. Jpgs and such do not support transparency.
