Are PC / Mac projects cross-compatible with each other?

I'm sure this has been asked before but a quick search hasn't given me the answer.

If I were to build a game with the windows version of GS, could I then load it on Mac and continue working on it?... or are you restricted to the system you begin your project on?

Thanks

At the moment, yes. They will add cross support in next version if I recall correctly.

Yes you can go from windows to mac. Currently there is not officially supported way of going back the other way though. it should be coming soon though like @imgua said

If it's any help to anyone, we built a tool to convert our templates for us over at Deep Blue Apps.com :-)

We're in the process of converting all of our templates and files and needed a faster way of doing it.

It's a PC only tool, but gives you back a GameSalad file that can run on the Mac version of GameSalad again - I've quickly wrapped up so others can use it. It's totally free to use, maybe it'll come in handy for you too.

    Hope it Helps

@wayneh001 I think the PC version of GameSalad has an Export to mac option in the menu. Is the converter different than that?

Not really. We had 200+ files to convert, so I made this tool, gave it to a colleague and said "convert these please...". Was just quicker than them having to open each one up, export, move to correct location etc etc...

Hi Wayne, do you have or will you have a way to go Mac to PC?

Thanks tenrdrmer. If things are cross-compatible then I'll need you help to find out what Im doing wrong. I have the PC version of the game creator and have a copy of a pc template. Trying to open the file which has a .gameproj file extention whereas the creator is looking for a .gsproj file. Double-clicking the file doesn't do anything other than start up the creator and changing the file extention to from gameproj to gsproj gives me a message that my version of gamesalad cannot open the file since it newer than my version of creator, which from what I can gather is the latest version available (ver 0.1 beta).

If anyone can shed some light that would be greatly appreciated. I'm only on basic, not pro - is that the issue?
