Hi everyone!

This is my first week of college at UCSC! Going to major in Computer Science Game Design. The iPhone SDK and GameSalad have literally changed my life. In 8th grade when apple announced the App Store, I started learning Objective-C. It took me a long time to actually understand the language and sophomore year I was starting to release completed games. When I discovered GS, it sped up the development process (although I still love using Objective-C, GS was such a big help because I could complete my projects AND still have time for other things). I love this community and want to thank GameSalad for providing such an amazing tool. Until Junior year I really had NO idea what I wanted to do when I grew up, but now I cannot imagine myself enjoying any career other than game design. Wish me luck here :D

    Good luck @mikelowe

When I was the same age there was one computer course (Everything). Several years later (about a decade) some uni's started to do game stuff. I unfortunately missed the boat (I blame my parents) so make the most of the opportunity.

Even further back when I was 14 I went to a careers convention and said that I wanted to be a computer programmer. The lady looked down her list and asked "Do you want to do commerce?". I guess that this was next to computer in the list :-)

    Times have changed.

Back in my day it was Fortran, Cobol, Pascal and Basic...even with some punched card arithmetic...luckily that turned out really useful in my later life ;)

Congrats! I hope you enjoy it!

I've never had any formal training in making games, would certainly be an interesting thing to try!

Best of luck! Learn lots! Create lots!

    QS :D

    Edit:
*Sees Zzap64 and goes away to read some Crash instead.*
