Thanks to @SaladStraightShooter for pointing me to https://us.v-cdn.net/5017598/uploads/FileUpload/54/c848760a3bef659b48f7e68eec001d.pdf

- I'm having a problem with the install of Visual Studio. Has anyone seen this? I have installed the SDK which includes .net 4.5..

1. I get this.. https://www.dropbox.com/s/9twigqkv4xvhoe7/Screen Shot 2012-10-04 at 10.23.15 AM.png basically this comes up immediately after i run the exe..

2. So then i go to the web site and find visual studio .net 4.5 http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=30653

3. When I try to install it, I get this https://www.dropbox.com/s/xag1jb2prjhnwbv/Screen Shot 2012-10-04 at 10.49.37 AM.png

So the system is telling me its installed.. and visual studio is telling me its not.. has anyone seen this?

Thanks,
Caleb

It happened to me because I had installed the pre release version of Win 8. Then I installed an evaluation version of Win 8 and everything worked.

You can't use the release preview of windows8. I ran into the same problem. I had to get an msdn copy from work.

@MarkOnTheIron what did you do for a serial number? When i go into parallels it's asking for a S/N at the start of the installation process.. inevitably it runs into a problem.. i'm about to install this version of win8 on an old pc to make it a dedicated machine.. hopefully that helps..

I installed it in a Boot Camp partition and it didn't ask for a product key. Also I think that the evaluation version doesn't require a product key to activate it.

yea i'm not ready to go so far as with bootcamp.. i have windows 7 and I'm not fond of upgrading os.. and with all my steam games i opted to hold off... but after i get this all working and windows 8 is final i plan on doing a fresh wipe.. not to mention i'm not doing a 50/50 split on my 500gb hard drive.. windows is getting more like 1/3 of the space this time.. using imovie for trailers and what not eats up space fast
