Pedometer app???

I had an idea for a app similar to a pedometer. I was wondering if this would be possible with gamesalad. I think it should be possible, but I'm not sure where to start. Thanks in advance for any insights.

Possibly possible by looking for shakes of the device and counting +1 every time.
