Haali Media Splitter

Can someone tell me why is this needed? I was updating my Windows version of GameSalad and this Haali Media Splitter is being installed too. I stopped then installation until I can find out more about this and how will it effect my other apps.

    I am not sure, I found it on my computer as well. Can any one tell what exactly it is?

    I dont have windows so I dont have GameSalad on that or the Haali Media Splitter, but a quick Google search has shown me that its a media codec
