Up to date tutorials for beginner?
Hi guys,
New to Gamesalad (and game creation). I will be buying Pro version, but wanted to get my feet wet using free download first. I downloaded the GS Creator Manual (V. 0.9.91) but it is out of date, and although I am using my intuition on some points, I have fallen on the first hurdle.
Seriously - where can I locate some 'up to date' starter instructions? I can see there's lots of advanced stuff around.
Here's the first problem I encountered: on page 13-14 of manual, the 'making a game' section that only alters the 'Shoot 'em up' template. When working on the instance actor, I set the move behaviour (left and right) but when I go to preview the Player Ship is only showing its central section within a small screen. Although earlier I could see the full ship image. (I did alter its attributes to 75 and 50). This is very odd. Can anyone direct me to why I have encountered this first problem please - so I may continue learning?
Many thanks

Hi Ves, yes some of the resources are a bit dated, but as far as what is going on in the "code" via attributes and behaviors, not a lot has changed. It's not quite clear, but it sounds like the actor image is clipping on a scaled up image. Check the size of the actor in the inspector window and ensure that it is the same as the actor in the game scene. The size of the space ship on that template should be 128 X 64.
Also be sure to check out youtube for a bounty of official GameSalad vids, as well as helpful vids from many of the users here. -

On Mac, its under the File menu. I get in the habit of just pressing Command+S often while working.

I will work my way through all the links.
I seem to have resolved my first post problem - just by re-starting from the beginning! But that is not the way I plan to resolve problems in future! I am determined to become adept at this!
BUT - here's a really daft newbie question that you will all have a good laugh about - where is the Save button to use during work progress? The only one I can find is on exiting the template or program.
Cheers to you all - I think I will be very happy here in your kind community.
