Adding music is definetly an advantage to your game.
It gives an overall feel of the game, and if the game is reviewed, will add more 'stars' (as music is one category an app is judged on)

The type of music is really dependant on you and the type of game

So do you have sounds incorporated into your game? You have a snake and ladder game, but what is the overall theme or level themes?

Music is not always a necessity if there is a lot of gameplay/interactive sounds going on in your game (many old classics rely on title and intro tunes only, if that), but even small music loops can make a huge difference. Try locating music to match the atmosphere of your level/s, or if limited, a piece that fits the whole game. Music that can balance with the additional sounds in the game is a plus. Harmony is golden.

the more 'polish' you put on your game the more professional it will look and more serious people will take it.

thanks guys, well as you know in a snake and ladder game there is not to much going on, so far i have the sound when rolling the dice and when the player clicks to advance to the spot,i am also looking for a good sound when the player lands on then ladder or snake, but for the music i not sure what to have.
