Hello World...

I've spent the past 3 weeks putting together my first KickStarter campaign.

Trying to make the perfect video, rewards, images and text.

Its for a big game project I started ages ago using GameSalad... I've re-visited it 3 times but I've always wanted more time to do the game idea justice and work as a small indie team.

The KickStarter page was finished at lunchtime today so I've submitted that to review, ready to go live later this week.

Then I've spent this afternoon creating an accompanying website.

Please take a look at the site and the below video and let me know what you think...

There's a lot more info on the Kickstarter page, but lets save that for when it all goes live :-)

Here's the new fancy webpage to accompany the KickStarter one.
http://www.stormystudio.com/kickstarter

Here's the video with yours truly in... fingers severely crossed you like it....?

    Jon started it in GameSalad, and probably he continues to use this software :)

    if I know the work of Jon in GameSalad, but wondering if Dark Asylum was developed in Unity, because it began in GameSalad and I wonder why he decided to change to continue Software Dark Asylum. Best Regards

    Hey guys... thanks for the positive (and flattering comments ;) )

    The game at the moment is developed entirely in GameSalad. It will continue that way unless I go way over my KickStarter goal.

    I know GameSalad really well, and am confident using it, solving problems and have high hopes for what is coming in the next year with the software.

    I'd love to allow myself the time and funds to work with others and develop the game in Unity as it would obviously be exciting to learn another bit of software (I love a challenge) and have and the cool 3d lighting. I'm already very familiar with 3ds max and modelling/rigging so it would be the Java script programming that I'd need to get to grips with. Just by using GameSalad (nearly 3 years now) I feel more comfortable when trying to learn programming and thinking logically as GameSalad rules require the same thought process. I've created a little bit of the game in Unity and its very cool already, but the plan as it stands is still to use GameSalad.

    Glad everyone seems to like the video... tricky one trying to find a balance between fun and informative and semi professional, and long, boring and too professional or too amateur... hopefully I've got it right... I guess I'll find out when the campaign goes live..

    Nice work man! I'll be sure to checkout the kickstart page and throw in a few bucks ;) It'll be interesting to see how it goes. I was thinking of doing a Kickstarter page for my next game, so I cant wait to see how this one turns out for you! Best of luck.

    @FryingBaconStudios - Thanks...

    @GSHelper... Max I'd obviously really appreciate any pledges possible.. so thankyou in advance... hopefully it will be successful and more indie game titles from this forum can make it too...

    @RThurman... he he... I'm sure its all in the lighting... in reality I'm normally a lot hairier, with red eyes from staring at the screen too long, plus the shakes from too much caffeine.. ~O)

    Hey Stormy Jon, that is looking absolutely brilliant mate! I think your pitch video is pretty much spot on - just the right combo of earnestness and accessibility. Good work.

    When does the KS kick off?
  • StormyStudioStormyStudio United KingdomMember Posts: 3,989
    @TesseractEngine ... cheers... it should all kick off in the next couple of days. They say it can take between 1 and 3 days to be reviewed... then I get to press a big 'Go!' button I think...

    Can we have a weekend in Asylum if we back your project with 1000 USD, or something like that? :D

    Or maybe a small model of your elevator with blood on the walls B-)
  • StormyStudioStormyStudio United KingdomMember Posts: 3,989

    @stormystudio

    Wow, Jon, you're really gonna bite the bullet! Fingers crossed re: the pledging, here's hoping it all comes together well; in fact, break a leg...

    (For those who don't know this expression: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Break_a_leg )

    By the way, if your composer drops out, drop me a line.... ;-) >:)
  • StormyStudioStormyStudio United KingdomMember Posts: 3,989
    @gyroscope

    Thanks mate... if we end up needing another composer on board you are officially top of my list...

    And yes gonna bite the bullet....
